GED Assistance Program

The GED Assistance Program helps U.S. Team Members earn their GED credential by preparing for and taking all four GED subject tests. To carry out the program, Hilton partnered with CAEL (The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning), a national non-profit adult learning organization. CAEL will provide support to help you reach your goal of receiving your GED.

Before you get started…

In deciding to particiapte in the GED Assistance Program, you are making a commitment to prioritize earning your GED.  To do this you need to:

  • Set aside at least 10 hours a week to prepare for and take the four GED subject tests
  • Make short-and long-term study goals
  • Ask for support from family and friends
  • Use additional resources to build your test taking skills (you can find additional study resources here)
  • Communicate with your CAEL Advisor – your Advisor will help you stay motivated and help you manage your time
    • If you need more help or find it difficult to study on your own, your CAEL Advisor will help you find a GED prep class near you
What is the GED?

The General Educational Development (GED) test is a group of four separate subject tests (Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), Science and Social Studies). These four tests certify that the test taker has high school level academic skills.

The receive a GED, a test taker must receive a passing score of at least 145 for each subject test. A total score of 580 or higher is required to receive your GED credential.

 

The GED test score scale:

  • Below Passing: 100-144
  • Passing Score: 145-164
  • College Ready: 165-174
  • College Ready + Credit: 175-200
Who is eligible for the Hilton GED Assistance program?

Only Hilton U.S. Team Members are eligible for Hilton’s High School Completion Programs – GED Assistance Program

How to get started
  • Talk with your Property HR Director, HR Representative or General Manager (note: participation in Hilton GED Assistance program must be approved by HR/GM)
  • Call CAEL at 1-844-817-4333 to schedule a program intake screening appointment
  • Provide CAEL with the information listed in the Personal Information Box from your High School Completion program flyer
